Indirect Questions - Test

Pamiętaj o ZASADZIE INDIRECT QUESTIONS:

Po wstępach typu "Do you know...", "Could you tell me...", "I wonder..." — szyk staje się TWIERDZĄCY (jak w zdaniu oznajmującym).

Direct question	Indirect question
Where is he?	Do you know where he is?
What does he want?	I wonder what he wants.
What time is it?	Could you tell me what time it is?
When did she arrive?	Do you remember when she arrived?
Who is that man?	I want to know who that man is.

Pamiętaj o KLUCZOWYCH ZASADACH:

1. NIE używamy "do/does/did" w indirect questions:

• ❌ Do you know where does he live?
• ✅ Do you know where he lives?

2. SZYK = subject + verb (jak w twierdzeniu):

• ❌ Could you tell me what time is it?
• ✅ Could you tell me what time it is?

3. Pytania YES/NO → wprowadzamy "if" lub "whether":

• ❌ Do you know is he at home?
• ✅ Do you know if/whether he is at home?

Pamiętaj o KLUCZOWYCH PUŁAPKACH MATURALNYCH:

1. Klasyk: szyk:

• ❌ Could you tell me where is the station?
• ✅ Could you tell me where the station is?

2. Klasyk: brak "do/does/did":

• ❌ I wonder why does he behave like that.
• ✅ I wonder why he behaves like that.

3. Yes/no questions wymagają "if/whether":

• Are you tired? → I want to know if/whether you are tired.
• Did she call? → Do you know if/whether she called?

4. Pytania reportowane (reported questions) — IDENTYCZNA zasada:

• He asked, "Where do you live?" → He asked where I lived. (też szyk twierdzący + brak do)

5. Indirect questions są bardziej GRZECZNE:

• Where is the bank? (potoczne)
• Could you tell me where the bank is? (grzecznie!)
