Never nigdy
Rarely / Seldom rzadko
Hardly / Scarcely / Barely ledwo
No sooner... than... gdy tylko
Hardly... when... ledwo... gdy
Not only... but also... nie tylko... ale i...
Not until dopiero gdy
Little did I know nie wiedziałem
Under no circumstances w żadnym wypadku
On no account pod żadnym pozorem
At no time nigdy

Pamiętaj o KLASYCZNYCH PRZYKŁADACH:

Bez inwersji Z inwersją (formal)
I have never seen such beauty. Never have I seen such beauty.
He rarely visits us. Rarely does he visit us.
I had hardly arrived when... Hardly had I arrived when...

Pamiętaj o KLUCZOWYCH ZASADACH:

1. Auxiliary verb (have/do/will/can/be) + subject + main verb:

  • Never have I been so happy. (have + I + been)
  • Rarely does she complain. (does + she + complain)
  • Never I have been... (zła kolejność)

2. W Past Simple — dodajemy "did":

3. "Not only... but also..." — inwersja w PIERWSZEJ części:

  • Not only does he play piano, but he also sings.
  • Not only is he handsome, but also intelligent.

4. "No sooner... than..." vs "Hardly... when...":

  • No sooner had I arrived than the phone rang.
  • Hardly had I arrived when the phone rang.

5. "Under no circumstances" / "On no account" — modal verb + inwersja:

  • Under no circumstances should you open the door.
  • On no account must we ignore them.

Pamiętaj — ta konstrukcja jest rozszerzony / dwujęzyczny poziom. W normalnej rozmowie mało używana, ale na maturze rozszerzonej i w pisanej angielszczyźnie KLASYK.
