Pamiętaj o KLUCZOWYCH PUŁAPKACH:

1. There is / there are zależy od pierwszego rzeczownika po nim:

  • There is a cat and two dogs. (a cat = singular)
  • There are two dogs and a cat. (two dogs = plural)

2. There + niepoliczalny zawsze "is":

  • There is sugar in the coffee.
  • There is information about the meeting.
  • ❗ "Information, advice, news" są niepoliczalne!

3. NIE myl z "they are":

  • They are 5 chairs in the room. (błąd, "they" = oni/one)
  • There are 5 chairs in the room. (są)

4. "There is no" / "There isn't any" — oba poprawne:

  • There is no milk. / There isn't any milk.
  • There are no apples. / There aren't any apples.

5. Klasyczny błąd: "It is" vs "There is":

  • It is a problem. (potoczne, ale nie określa istnienia)
  • There is a problem. = istnieje problem.
  • It — gdy rozmawiamy o czymś konkretnym (pogoda, czas, etc.)
  • There — gdy podajemy NOWĄ informację o istnieniu
